VOTE CAN:T BE OBSTRUCTED SAYS KOIRALA Kathmandu, 24 June: President of the Nepali Congress, Sushil Koirala, has said that there was no alternative to election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) to end the political stalemate in order to institutionalize the achievements made from different movements. Koirala said that no one could obstruct the upcoming elections. Receiving a memorandum submitted by the Youth Association Nepal (YAN) at his residence at Maharajgunj today, the NC President said that there should be no obstruction to elections from anywhere. Koirala said attempt to obstruct the election should not be made from anywhere to institutionalize achievements and added no one could obstruct it. He said complaints of increasing cases of corruption have been raised as election could not be held in local bodies for long, and expressed the view that youths should be strongly mobilized to make the election a success as political crisis has deepened. Koirala said that youths should play a responsible role to make the election a success and therefore, they should be mobilized as the future of the country is in the hands of the youths. He stressed on the need of ensuring broader participation of people by creating environment for election as talks are underway with the dissenting parties. The 22-point memo submitted by a delegation under the leadership of chairman of YAN, Mahesh Basnet, demanded that CA election should be held in the declared date of November 19 and that top leaders of the major political parties should be active to create election environment. The memo also demands that there should be a provision of threshold of votes for proportional representation, problems of youths should be addressed and there should be 50 per cent youth candidates. Nnnn FOUR ALLEGED RAPISTS ARRESTED Kathmandu, 24 June: Police have arrested five persons on Sunday on the charge of raping a girl in Chitwan district, RSS reports from Chitwan.. The arrested are Ishwor Dhungana, 24, and Sushil Shrestha, 24, of Kumroj VDC in the eastern Chitwan, Santosh Chaudhary, 28, of Saptari district and Govinda Aryal, 30, of Birendranagar and Khageshwor Rana of Anppipal, Gorkha, according to police. Police arrested them after the girl of Chitwan district filed a complaint saying they raped her after taking her to Shrestha´s room. Investigation into the case is underway, said police, Nnnn SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT INJURES THREE Kathmandu, 24 June:: Three students were injured in a school bus accident at Bhimeshwor Chowk in Lalitpur district on Monday morning, RSS reports.. The accident took place when the school bus (Ba 1 Kha 6203) belonging to Chapagaun-based Emerald Boarding School fell 30 meters off the road at 9:30 am as it was heading towards school carrying the students. The injured students were taken to Patan Hospital for treatment, said Assistant Sub-Inspector, Prakash Poudel. There were some 25 students in the bus, said police. Nnnn LL.B 3RD YEAR RESULTS OUT Kathmandu, 24 June: Tribhuvan University, Office of the Controller of Examinations, Balkhu, has today published the results of the LLB third year examinations under the Faculty of Law. The Office had conducted the examinations in 2069 BS.
