UPDATE CPN MAOIST MOVEMENT AGAINST ELECTIONS
Kathmandu, 8 July: CPN
Maoist Monday announced a movement to
boycott second constituent assembly elections nationwide
from
25 July, Genera; Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa said.
He said this as the party announced a talks team to talk
with government
and 33 parties to boycott the 19 November polls.
He said the party was being ‘pressurized to surrender.
CPN Maoist is discussing its five-point conditions to
participate in
elections.

LOAD-SHEDDING PROTESTED
Kathmandu, 8 July: The Anti- load
shedding Struggle Committee organised vehicular strike along the East-West Highway
in Siraha district Monday morning to protest against the additional power
outage enforced in Siraha, RSS reports from Siraha. .The Committee organised one-hour strike from 9:00 am in front of the Lalbandi-based branch office of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Traffic was halted for sometime due to the strike. The Committee has been launching phase-wise agitation demanding withdrawal of the additional load shedding in the district and to make Sarlahi dwellers free from tag of 'power thieves'.
Coordinator of the Committee, Meghraj Phunyal, said that the protest through the transport strike was symbolical as the District Administration Office has already invited them for talks to resolve problems.
Sarlahi dwellers are in protest saying the NEA has increased their sufferings by enforcing additional load shedding in the district without fulfilling its responsibility to control electricity theft. RSS
