CRACKDOWN ON COOPERATIVES IN KAILALI
Kathmandu, 15 July:: Out of
the 475 cooperatives registered so far in Kailali district, 29 have been
scrapped. RSS reports from Kailalo.
According to the Cooperatives Training and Division Office, Dhangadhi, most of the scrapped cooperatives are Saving and Credit Cooperatives and based in rural areas.
Information Officer at the Cooperatives Office, Imanath Kandel, said that the cooperatives were scrapped as they did not carry out works as per the Cooperatives Act. It is learnt that the cooperatives were scrapped after they failed to hold general assemblies and submit reports.
Among the scrapped cooperatives, five are in Tikapur Municipality, four in Joshipur VDC, two in Pratappur VDC, five in Baliya VDC and 13 in other VDCs.
