DETAILS OF PAUDEL, PRESIDENT MEET

Kathmandu, 3 July:: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has urged the big four political parties to continue talks and discussions with the dissenting political parties and bring them into the consensus politics, RSS reports.

The President made this call at a discussion held with Nepali Congress Acting President Ram Chandra Poudel at the President’s office, Sheetalniwas on Wednesday.

President Dr Yadav also asked them to gear up the atmosphere for Constituent Assembly elections so that all parties would participate in it.

The President stressed that both government and the big parties need to expedite election atmosphere to ensure participation of all parties.

Following the discussion with the President, NC Vice-President Poudel said they also discussed the next year budget. He added that he reminded the President about the negative effects of partial budgets in national economy.

Poudel also acquired information about the President's health during the discussion, and said the President has no any health problem now.

On another note, Acting President Poudel said that determining the electoral constituencies shouldn’t go beyond past precedents.

FORMER FINANCE MINISTERS DEMAND FULL BUDGET

KATHMANDU: Former finance ministers have suggested the Government to bring a full-size budget.

Speaking at an interaction on budget in the capital on Wednesday, they however said that the full budget should not bring any extensive changes in the parameter of taxing, and also should not include new and publicity-oriented programmes.

They also emphasized on the need to give priority to agriculture and infrastructure development, continue with the three-pillar policy and promote hydropower projects that produce power during the winter among others.

Those expressing their views at the programme were former Finance Ministers Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Barshaman Pun, Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat.

Advisor to the Ministry of Finance Dr Chiranjibi Nepal on the occasion made it clear that the government would bring a full budget as all the political parties are in favour of it.

JAPANESE ASSISTANCE FOR AGRICULTURE

Kathmandu, 3 July: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Wednesday

handed over chemical fertilizers worth Rs. 259 million — 3,105.10 metric tons of urea and 1,343.10 metric tons of DAP — to a government agency.

JICA  Chief Representative Tsutomu Shimizu handed over the fertilisers

to the government amid a function held at the Central Office of

Agriculture Inputs Company Limited (AICL) in Kuleshwor.
