Kathmandu, 24 July: Fifty-nine political parties received official recognition of election to participatein the November assembly polls.

They received election symbols.

Applications of other parties are being scrutinized.

UPDATE FORMER CROWN PRINCESS DISTRIBUTES RELIEF IN DARCHUNAA DESPITE OPPOSITION OF ELECTION COMMISSION

Kathmandu, 24 July: Former Crown Princess Himani distributed relief to victims of flood and landslides at Khalanghaa, Darchuka district headquarters in the

presence of former King and Queen Komal.

Himani heads the Himani Trust.

Election Commission opposed distribution but didn’t intervene to stop

Wednesday’s distribution.

Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said he would have hauled the former king for indulging in politics in name of relief distribution.

UPDATE KARMACHARYA CREMATED WITH STATE HONOURS

Kathmandu, 24 July: Veteran communist leader Nara Bahadur Karmacharya was cremated at Pashupatinath Aryaghatwith full state honours.

A police contingent was deployed for the state honour.
