BAN ON POULTRY PRODUCTS IMPORT IN MORANG

Kathmandu, 7 Aug.: The Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Wednesday arrested two members of an extortion racket in connection with the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in front of the house of Nawaraj Bhushal in Balkhu on July 28 in a bombing threat to him, RSS reports from Morang..

The suspects are identified as Surya Timalsina aka Bigul (26) of Madankundari- 4 of Kavre and Tikaram Rakhal Magara aka Rojan (31) of Sindhuli.

Timalsina was a former Maoist combatant disqualified by UNMIN during the verification of former Maoist People's Liberation Army members, while Magar used to operate the criminal racket under the cloak of Rojan Film Productions.

They were paraded at the MPCD's office in Hanumandhoka today.

The gang had asked Bhushal, proprietor of Rita Automobiles, an undisclosed amount of 'donation' by issuing death and kindnapping threats, and bombing his house.

Timalsina was mastermind behind the racket and had issued threats against Bhushal via letter and phone for the past two weeks in the name of Maoist Communist Party- Nepal, an underground outfit, according DSP Shiva Kumar Shrestha, who led an investigation panel.

The racket detonated a low-intensity bomb in front of Bhushal's house at around 9:15 pm on July 28 after the businessman tried to convince a caller, who identified himself as Kalyan, that he did not have cash to provide as donation, police informed.

Demanding donation, an unidentified person had handed over a letter addressed to Bhushal to the manager of Rita Automobiles on July 25, DSP Shrestha informed.
