Govt. proposal to implement a proclaim republic

Kathmandu, 27 May: Congress, CPN-UML and Maoists agreed Tuesday government will formally present a proposal in the CA Wednesday to proclaim a republic by abolishing the 238-year monarchy.
Top leader of conservative RPP-Nepal Ramhari Sharma said the declaration ‘illegal”.
“The issue will remain. The declaration won’t be in the interest of the country,” he added.
A republic isn’t sustainable.
But Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai, elected Tuesday party deputy leader in CA, said the King will have to accept the executive proclamation to be presented to the CA by government Wednesday.
Prachanda has been elected Maoist leader in the CA.
The CA will then direct the government to execute proclamation.
Dr Bhattarai said a constitution amendment proposal will also be tabled in CA Wednesday to facilitate the implementation of a republic.
Prohibitory orders have been ordered in the capital since Monday banning protests and meetings at five centers and security forces have also been kept on high alert for the proclamation.
Yet two persons were injured in bomb explosion at Ratna Park Tuesday; a bomb went off in the capital for the second successive day.
Hindu Ranabir Sena took responsibility for Monday’s two bombings.
Congress, CPN-UML and Maoists patched up differences and agreed Tuesday morning to appoint a ceremonial president first opposed by Maoists.
The three parties were to present the agreement first to 13 and then to 25 parties in the CA for endorsement Tuesday night.
Elected and nominated members of hee CA took their oaths of office Tuesday; government didn’t complete nomination of 26 remaining members for the ceremony.
A three-day holiday has been announced from Wednesday to celebrate republic day.

Narayan Kazi Shrestha “Prakash” surfaces
Kathmandu, 27 May: Communist leader Narayan Kazi Shrestha ‘Prakash” surfaced in the capital 18 years after going underground.
He is General-Secretary of CPN (Unity Center/Mashal).
He helped broker the 12-point agreement between parliamentary parties and Maoists in New Delhi in 2006.
