UN staffers participating in protests with Tibetans: China

Kathmandu, 13 May: UN staffers in Nepal are present while demonstrations by Tibetans against China are being every day in the Nepalese capital, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Xianglin told reporters Monday.
“UN staffers are present at demonstrations. This is a serious violation of UN charter,” Zhang charged, the Tuesday editions of The Himalayan Times reported.
He said ‘huge outside pressure’ is being put on Nepal.
US Ambassador Nancy J. Powell earlier protested the crackdown on daily protests of Tibetans since March.

Dr Bhattarai demands Koirala’s resignation

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 13 May: Dr Baburam Bhattarai charged Tuesday Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala continues in power preventing the formation of a post-election government.
The Koirala government is just a caretaker government following CA elections after which Maoists have emerged as the biggest party in the CA and demanded the resignation of the incumbent prime minister.
Bhattarai asked Koirala to submit his resignation immediately to Speaker Subash Newang.
Bhattarai said Maoists won’t accept Koirala as president but were ready to offer him another honourable position.
He also the king must quit the palace immediately because Maoists won’t compromise on declaring a republic.
A dispute between Maoists and Congress erupted in public Tuesday after Congress and CPN-UML Monday refused to join a Maoist-led government without the dismantling the PLA and para-military YCL.
Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel charged Maoists for being neo-Fascist and dictatorial and asked Maoists to bring forward a consensus agenda to implement a republic, other government programmes and form a new government of national unity.
Being the biggest party in CA was not enough, Paudel said.
