Nominations for PM being filed at 10 PM

Kathmandu, 14 Aug: Nominations for prime minister to succeed Girija Prasad Koirala installed in April 2006 through street protests and foreign support and conspiracy begin at 10 in the morning Thursday.
Nominations are being filed from 10 in the morning to five in the late afternoon.
The prime minister is being elected by the 601-member CA.
A clear picture hasn’t yet emerged on who will be the candidates.
Nepali Congress may field Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Congress is seeking the support of CPN-UML and Forum..
Four major parties failed to field a common candidate.
CPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress both wanted the defence portfolio.
List of candidates will be published 30 minutes after time elapses for filing nominations.
Voting is on Friday.

Abductor of Dr Upendra Debkota nabbed
Kathmandu, 14 Aug: Hem Bahadur Magar, abductor of Dr neurosurgeon Dr Upendra Debkota, was arrested and presented to media persons Wednesday.
Police nabbed Magar in an operation Operation Lucky named after the dog where abducted daughter Megha was kept.
Police launched a search around Nakkhu in Lalitpur to find a dog named Lucky.
Four others suspects are absconding.
They have been identified as: gang leader Sidddhartha Lama, Krishna Rai, Raju Thapa and Keshab Darlami Magar.
Dr Debkota paid a Rs130 million ransom for the freedom of his daughter.

Cholera outbreak in capital

Kathmandu, 14 Aug: Cholera has broken out in the capital and adjoining Lalitpur.
Cholera was detected in 191 patients treated at Teku hospital in one week, Rajdhani reports quoting hospital Dr Laxmi Bikram Thapa.
A Nepali student returning to USA 21 July was admitted to hospital with cholera, Nepal Samacharpatra reports.
An unidentified graduate student was admitted a hospital in Oregon.
The alarmed doctor immediately alerted the Nepal office of WHO through e-mail.

Virus Killers Chairman arrested in India
Kathmandu, 14 Aug: Madesh Virus Killers Chairman Jaya Prakash was arrested in Indian police in Birpur, Bihar, Tuesday, Naya Patrika reports.
Central member and military commander Amarendra Goit ‘Gaurab” and chief of political department Krishna Yadav were also nabbed.
