Kathmandu, 16 Aug: Three ruling parties, CPN (Maoist), CPN-UML and MJF will formalize an agreement on a common minimum programme (CNP) and a code of conduct for governing parties through an formal agreement Sunday, CPN-UML General Secretary Jhalanath Khanal said Saturday.
The three parties reached a ‘broad agreement’ which will be signed Sunday, Khanal said.
Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai said a 24-member council of ministers will be announced Monday before the formal installation of Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda by the president Monday.
Initial discussions on power sharing and sharing of ministerial portfolios were held Saturday, he said.
A majority communist government will be installed Monday with the Nepali Congress sitting in opposition.
Congress and outgoing Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala helped establish a majority communist government in Nepal for the first time with Indian government push.
USA didn’t congratulate Prachanda on his election Saturday but instead congratulated ‘the people of Nepal’ and CA for the election to end a four-month political deadlock.
After North Korea, China and Vietnam, Nepal will have a government controlled and run by communists.
Maoists have succeeded to capture power in Nepal without defeating the Nepal Army on the battlefield.
They will have political control over the army through the administration of the defence ministry.
