Five-member combatant committee formed

Kathmandu, 28 Oct: A political committee of the cabinet—not the full cabinet—Tuesday formed a five-member combatant management committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Deb Gautam from the CPN-UML after a prolonged dispute.
Maoists previously demanded they should head the committee opposed by main opposition Nepali Congress and even CPN-UML..
One seat has been set aside for the Nepali Congress.
Maoists are represented by Defence
Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal in the committee and another seat has been set aside for another constituent in government—the MJF.
Political Science Professor Habibulla is the fifth member of the committee.
Maoists demanded two seats in the committee.

Narayan Sharma appointed Chairman of Press Council

Kathmandu, 28 Oct: Narayan Sharma, close to Maoists, has been appointed Chairman of Press Council.
Sharma replaces Rajendra Dahal who was close with the main opposition Nepali Congress.
