Maoist committees to report to full session Sunday

Kathmandu, 22 Nov: Coordinators of 21 committees that started discussing differing concepts of a transitional republic and people’s republic will report to the national meet of 1,200 delegates Sunday in Bhaktapur, CPN (Maoist) spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara said.
The committees began discussions on the Prime Minister Prachanda’s proposal and Mohan Baidya Kiran’s hard-line concept for an immediate declaration of a republic through revolt.
For the first time, conflicting concepts have been presented at a Maoist national meet.

Girija Prasad Koirala continues attack on Maoists

Kathmandu, 22 Nov: Aging octogenarian but tireless Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala continued a personal campaign against Maoists and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in Nepalgunj Saturday at a public meeting.
Koirala, who brought Maoists into the political mainstream from the jungle and hideout in India in April 2005 parted company with Maoists three months ago after being ousted as prime minister.
In a largely attended public meeting, Koirala reiterated charges in a 25-minute address, Maoists were turning dictatorial.
Koirala threatened to disrupt the integration of PLA with Nepal Army if YCL continued its excesses; he charged Maoists were shying away from drafting a constitution as well.
The Congress launched an awakening campaign from Biratnagar; the fourth meeting will now be held in Pokhara; while the second was held in Birjung.
Half a dozen top leaders of the main opposition addressed the rally attended by activists of 15 districts of the mid and far-West.

Schools will reopen Sunday

Kathmandu, 22 Nov: Private schools closed for four days will reopen Sunday.
Teachers forced the closure after 18 colleagues of a school were dismissed.
Teachers’ union said the school will continue to be padlocked until the dismissed teachers are reinstated.

One person killed in Rupandaehi; other details

Kathmandu, 22 Nov: Another person was shot and killed in Rupandaehi Saturday in continuing violence in the terai.
Two persons were abducted Saptari Saturday and a pharmacist from Mohottari for ranson.
The market closed in Gaur, Rautahat, after a boy was killed and another injured in a bomb explosion Friday reported Saturday after a Rs 200,000 compensation was paid to relatives of the boys.
