No remnants of monarchy in RPP: Pashupati SJB Rana
Kathmandu, 18 Nov: No remnants of monarchy remain in RPP founded in the panchayat era and a system which th party supported even after monarchy was toppled in April 2005.
Party Chairman Pashupati SJB Rana said this Tuesday in Nepalgunj while addressing a party function.
Rana said the previously conservative party has now adopted a republican agenda.
RPP is divided into four factions with RPP-Nepal led by Kamal Thapa still rooting for monarchy.

Rs 50,000 compensation offered to Kosi flood victims
Kathmandu, 18 Nov: Government Tuesday offered Rs 50,000 for each family affected by the Kosi flood during this monsoon season.
But the families have to leave the temporary camps in Sunsari and Saptari.
Nearly 40,000 families, including Indian, are being cared for by government.

Differences persist in CPN (Maoist)

Kathmandu, 18 Nov: Differences in the CPN (Maoist) persisted despite a meeting between Prime Minister Prachanda and organization chief Mohan Baidya Kiran to eliminate difference on separate political lines and approach a national convention Thursday unitedly.
Differences persisted between Prachanda’s transitional republic and Kiran’s people’s republic lines despite an attempt to narrow down differences Tuesday.
An attempt for a unified will continue at Wednesday’s central committee meeting ahead of the national meet.

Govt assesses meeting with terai rebel
Kathmandu, 18 Nov: Government negotiating them, to present a report to the cabinet Wednesday, reviewed Tuesday the outcome of its unofficial talks with 15 terai rebel groups.
Coordinator of the three-member negotiating team Peace Minister Janardhan Sharma Prabhakar told reporters the team concluded the terai groups were positive to major national issues including peace process, the constitution drafting process, negotiations and other national issues.
Rebels groups, whose exact numbers couldn’t be determined because of constant splits and unity, demanded environment for talks and release of arrested colleagues, Sharma said.
Talks were also held with Kirat Workers’ Party of the eastern hills, Sharma said.
The unofficial talks have paved the pay for official talks, Sharma added.
