6 killed, 40 injured in Gorkha bus accident

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: Six persons were killed and 40 others were injured,10 seriously, Friday morning when a local bus fell 100 metres off a road in Gorkha district.
The bus, mostly with students and teachers, was going to district headquarters carrying passengers to a affair.

400 plus royal palace employees to be adjusted in govt. service

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: Over 400 Narayanhiti palace employees who wee serving the then King Gyanenda and his family are all set to be adjusted into the civil service within a month, The Rising Nepal reports quoting an unnamed official of the Ministry of General Administration.
“The cabinet meeting has already taken a decision to adjust them under the Special Group Regulation 2064,” Kumar Dahal, under secretary at the Ministry said.
’This regulation has authority of investigation into their education qualification and abilities.”
As per the ministry, out of 488 royal palace employees—the palace has appointed three employees in a special portfolio, eight joint secretaries, 13 under-secretaries, 27 assistant secretaries, 62 officers and other lower level employees.
“Some of the employees working at Mahendra Manjil, Shiva Puri and Diyalo Bungala will not be shifted regarding their expertise in related field, The rest who have been working without proper educational qualification will be laid off giving them golden handshake,” Dahal added.

Mumbai terror attacks impact Nepal

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: Following the terrorist attack in Mumbai, India has heightened security on the border, RSS reports from Baitadi.
Immediately after the attack, India’s Seema Surakchaya Bal had cut off more than six tuins over Mahakali River, according to locals.
They said hat their movement has been affected after the tuins were rendered inoperable by the Indian security personnel.
Residents in more than six VDCs in Darchula district use tuins to the district headquarters through Indian route.

More than 44,000 victims of Maoist war

Kathmandu, 5 Dec: An interim report says 44,861 persons have been affected in 73 districts by the Maoist people’s war, Sambodhan reports.
A task force has asked victims whose names have not been included to report to district headquarters within six weeks.
Taplegunj, where 1,092 were displaced, was the district most severely affected.
