Deputy Chinese army chief, defence minister hold discussions

Kathmandu, 7 Dec: Visiting Deputy Chief of Chinese PLA Lt Gen Ma Xiaotion held discussions Sunday on the second day of his Nepal visit.
Ma arrived Saturday leading a 10-member army delegation with four major generals.
Ma said on arrival discussions will be held on Rs 110 million military assistance and security in which Tibet is expected to figure.

Police shoot dead rebel in terai

Kathmandu, 7 Dec: Police shot dead Bechan Yadav ‘DSP” Saturday in an encounter in Bhagatpur, Saptari.
Four rebels were arrested with arms.
Violence continues unabated in the south bordering India.
Officials talks between government and rebel groups haven’t yet started to defuse the rebellion with some groups calling for outright independence from the hills.
Meanwhile, a youth overnight killed his stepmother and aunt in Kanchanpur.

Maoist ministers call for dissolution, continuance of YCL

Kathmandu, 7 Dec: Two influential ministers have aired differing views on the controversial YCL—one demanding its dissolution another insisting the militant youth wing of the CPN (Maoist) should continue.
Hishila Yami , tourism minister and wife of Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said Saturday,” Because of YCL activities, chaos is increasing in the country. Its dissolution looks necessary not disturb the peace.”
But Communications Minister and party Spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara said” We have no plans to dissolve YCL.”
YCL figured prominently in the just concluded national workers conference which decided to continue with the organization.
YCL consists mostly of demobilized youth of the PLA.

Gorakh SJB Rana re-marries

Kathmandu, 7 Dec: More than seven years after his gorgeous wife, Shruti, was shot dead by her brother Crown Prince Dipendra, Gorakh SJB Rana has remarried,
Gorakh survived the palace massacre with a missing finger,
The entire family of King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya were massacred in the carnage.
He is returning back home Sunday with his wife, who is niece of former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand.
Gorakh went in procession Saturday to fetch his wife from Lokanthali.
Gorakh has two daughters, Girbani and Suragana, from Shruit.
Members of the former royal family attended a wedding reception Saturday organized by Gorakh’s mother.

Foreign ministry intervenes, stops foreign visits of vice-president, education minister

Kathmandu, 7 Dec: Foreign Ministry has stopped the planned visit of Education Minister Renu Yadav to attend a conference in Geneva, Annapurna Post reports.
The ministry has also stopped a visit of Vice-President Parmananda Jha to the United Kingdom.
Jha ahas received a private invitation for the visit.
They are members of Madesh Adhikar Forum of which Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav is chairman.
The ministry intervened because it was not notified officially.

Koirala warns Maoists may again have to slip to the jungle or India

Kathmandu, 7 Dec: Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala Saturday continued his tirade against Maoists and warned in Mahendranagar they may again have to slip across the border to India or the jungle if they don’t mend their ways.
“Prachandaji, improve! If not, you may have to return to Hindusthan or India.
“He has lost his way,” Koirala said charging Maoists haven’t implemented any agreement negotiated with seven parties.
“Don’t deceive Koirala. Anybody who deceives Congress will drown,” he warned in strong words.
“I don’t know YCL. There’s no bigger enemy than Koirala for anyone who troubles Congress workers.
“I tell Prachandaji, he may kill me with two bullets worth two rupees. But he can’t smother my thoughts.
I don’t know if Prachanda is wrong or underdeveloped, he has lost his way.
“Democratic forces should unite. They should show it in action not words.”
