Kathmandu, 1 Dec: A meeting of three ruling parties and main opposition Nepali Congress has been called for Tuesday by the ruling parties to discuss broad political issues.
The meeting was called by three biggest constituents of the coalition government Monday.
The meeting invited the Nepali Congress which has launched jihad against CPN (Maoist).
The three parties also formed a six-member high political coordination committee to direct and coordinate the affairs of government which has completed 100 days.
Law Minister Deb Gurung and military leader Barsha Man Pun Ananta represent CPN (Maoist), former General- Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bhim Rawal represent CPN-UML and Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Madesh Janatantrik Forum (MJF) Upendra Yadav and Sharad Singh Bhandari will represent their party in the committee.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has been empowered to expand the committee by appointing other members from remaining coalition partners Tueday.
A coordinator of he political committee has yet to be appointed.

Giija calls for another fight to save democracy

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala thought the fight for democracy had ended early 2008 with the toppling of the 238-year-old monarchy in Nepal.
He repeatedly used to emphasize, until Monday, the next generation would never have to fight a battle for democracy afte monarchy was toppled.
But the octogenarian former prime minister and President of Nepali Congress told a sports meet in Lalitpur Monday the fight for democracy still continues.
The final battle for democracy has yet to be fought, Koirala said obviously referring to his latest jihad against Maoists accused for authoritarianism.
Koirala brought Maoists into the political mainstream and out of the jungle inside Nepal and their hideouts in India in April 2005 after a 11-year people’s year to secure democracy permanently.
Koirala asked democratic forces to unite and added they shouldn’t be disheartened by one loss referring to the April CA elections won by Maoists.
Don’t be worried by the defeat, Koirala said giving supporters a pep talk.
He hit at Maoists and said the first 100 days of he Prachanda government was a complete failure.
Koirala has fought governments and systems since 1950 for democracies—the fight, which he thought was over, continues in Nepal.

Congress parliamentary party meet inconclusive

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: Congress parliamentary party meet to approve its statute was inconclusive Monday.
The statute was drafted by a committee headed
By party General secretary Bimalendra Nidhi.
The parliamentary party is meeting again coming Monday to approve rules governing the functioning of the parliamentary.
Differences centered on the appointment of a deputy to the leader and whether he/she should be elected nominated.
mere was a provision for deputy leader.
Girija Prasad Koirala, without election, has proclaimed he’s the leader of the parliamentary party.

One terai faction calls cease-fire

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: Samyukta Janatantrik Mukti Morcha (SJMM) announced a cease-fire and asked government to reciprocate as it announced its readiness for a dialogue with government.
This was announced through an official letter to the government Sunday.
It asked government to fix a time and date for talks through mutual consultations.
The morcha or front asked government to freed its workers and create an atmosphere for talks.

Chairman held up by protestors
Kathmandu, 1 Dec: Chairman of the constituent assembly (CA) Subash Nemwang was held up for one hour at Fikal, Ilam Monday by activists of Limbuwan state council demanding autonomy in nine eastern districts.
Nemwang was visiting his home district when he was held up by council workers wearing black flags and enforcing a strike in aea for the second consecutive day to press demands.
But Nemwang denied he was held up
He said talks were held cordially for 10 minutes as protestors explained their demands.

Girija working to topple Prachand govt. and enforce presidential rule

Kathmandu, 1 Dec: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala knows the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has a majority in the constituent assembly and it isn’t immediately feasible to dislodge it, Janabhavana reports.
But Koirala is moving firmly and with determination in his secret grand design to topple the Maoist-led government.
Koirala presented the secret to visiting Indian foreign minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Indian support for the proposal is unlikely.
Mukjerjee has told Koirala not to bein a hurry.
Koirala’s arguments presented to Mukherjee is interesting.
He told the visitor he presented his proposal to the national army and received favourable response.
Koirala said he has proof Nepal’s Maoists are helping Naxalites in India.
India will suffer for any delay in toppling the Maoist government in Nepal, Koirala reportedly said.
Koirala’s plan is to enforce president’s rule by invoking article 36(a) sub-clause 3 which says,” rhe main responsibility of the president is to protect and abide by the constitution”.
Maoists, Koirala fells, have violated many articles in the constitution.
