All-party meeting called by Congress for anti-Maoist rule (Breaking News)

Kathmandu, 7 Feb: Main opposition Nepali Congress Saturday called an all-party meeting Monday to discuss Maoist-led government moves to issue controversial ordinances on establishment of South African-style truth commission to resolve excesses during the 10-year Maoist people’s movement.
The meeting was called through a statement to create public support against ordinance rule.
The party said the meeting has being convened to discuss attempts to enforce ordinances.
Maoists, now is government, came into the political mainstream in April 2005 through international conspiracy with present ruling parties and the main opposition.
The Maoist-led government is also attempting to form a commission to punish persons for forces missing.
Main opposition Nepali Congress at an informal meeting has decided to launch a movement against the government for what it called rule through ordinances.
CPN-UML-the second largest party in the ruling coalition, claims ordinances are being promulgated without agreement with it.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Saturday told a delegation political parties should attempt a consensus to resolve outstanding issues.
He warned a women’s delegation political problems can’t be resolved without understanding.
The president revealed he has discussed the issue with PM Prachanda.
Ordinances decided by government will come into effect only after signature by the president.
A clear political divide is emerging in the Himalayan state between India and China.
Maoists are attempting to force a Stalinist communist state and now opposed by Congress which is calling for what it calls a democratic front.
Congress, with the help of foreign governments, brought Maoists into the political mainstream hoping Maoists would accept liberal multi-party democracy.
Maoist leaders have said they won’t accept parliamentary democracy as an attempt is being made to draft a constitution after the 1990 basic document was shredded by the present major political parties.
Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala said Saturday Maoist-led government has made a mistake by drawing Nepal Army in a controversy.
Congress Acting President Sushil Koirala said Saturday the party will start launch a movement if PLA is integrated in Nepal Army.
Another Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said an attempt is being made to force principles on Nepal principles rejected worldwide, obviously to Maoist attempt.

Nepal enters semi-finals of ACC U-17 cricket tournament

Kathmandu, 7 Feb: Nepal entered the semi-finals of ACC U-17 Elite Cup cricket tournament Saturday.
Nepal beat Hong Kong by 28 runs.
Batting first, Nepal was all out for 78 runs..
Hong Kong scored 49 runs in 32.2 overs.
Bowlers helped Nepal win.
Nepal earlier beat Qatar.
Nepal meets Singapore Sunday.
