Congress parliamentary party meets

Kathmandu, 4 Feb: Congress parliamentary meets later Wednesday after a meeting was postponed indefinitely one month ago.
The meeting was postponed after a dispute the party’s statute.
Party President Girija Prasad Koirala convened the meeting after a signature campaign.
Koirala elected s provision for the election of office bearers who he thought should be nominated by the president.

Revenue collection up 33.1 percent

Kathmandu, 4 Feb: Compared to the corresponding period the previous year, revenue collection increased 33.1 percent to Rs 43.1 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year, Nepal Rashtra Bank said.
VAT revenue increased 17.1 percent to Rs 14.2 billion by mid-December.
Customs revenue increased 13.7 percent to Rs 8.9 billion while excise revenue increased 31.5 percent to Rs 5.4 billion.
Income tax revenue increased 23.9 percent to Rs 4.6 billion.
Non-tax revenue increased 125.3 percent to Rs 6.7 billion.
