Maoists retain Kaski constituency
Kathmandu, 11 April: Maoists retained a Kashi constituency in Friday’s parliamentary by-elections by a narrow margin of only 32 votes.
Krishna Gurung collected 12,257 and defeated his nearest Congress Maj Dipak Gurung.
Maoists have won two seats, and Congress and MJF one seat each; elections were held in six constituencies.
Raghubir Mahaseth of CPN-UML maintains a narrow lead over Shri Krishna Yadav of TMLP in Dhanusha where Congress candidate Dr Chandra MohanYadav, son of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav trails.
Vote counting was delayed in Kaski and Ghanusha were votes now have to be counted from one booth only.
Vote counting in Rolpa is now expected to begin only in the evening.
