Deputy PM Gachedhar expelled from MJF; other details

Kathmandu, 6 June: Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Gachedhar was expelled Friday from MJF with six other leaders by Chairman Upendra Yadhav.
Others expelled are: Sharad Singh Bhandari, Jitendra Narayan Dev, Rameshwor Rai Yadav, Ramjanam Chaudhary, Upendra Jha and Rajnishwor Goit.
The newly installed government led by Madhav Kumar Nepal is not in danger of collapsing with the move will split the fourth largest main terai party in parliament.
Yadav charged the Gachedhar faction with 32 seats in parliament for joining the government without the support of the central committee.
Gachedhar said his faction joined government with support of the parliamentary party of which he is leader.
Yadav announced withdrawal support for the Nepal government.
TLMP hasn’t yet decided on its government team leader.
There’s also differences between CPN-UML and Nepali Congress on sharing important ministries.
Sujata Koirala, daughter of NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, has joined government as foreign minister.
Raghuji Pant, political aide, of Premier Nepal, said CPN-UML is ready to hand over the defence portfolio to the Congress while keeping the home and finance portfolios.

Eight brigadiers reinstated

Kathmandu, 6 June: The cabinet Friday, on recommendation of Nepal Army, extended the tenure of eight brigadiers for another three years through consensus.
The Maoists had refused to extend their tenures.

Nepal, India have different perceptions

Kathmandu, 6 June: Nepal and India have differing perceptions on the on the encroachments of the border by Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB).
“The government has drawn the attention of Indian government through the Indian ambassador regarding incidents in Dang and Bara districts and asked it to stop these activities, “Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said Friday.
Parties in parliament have also protected what they called incursions an removing of border pillars denied by the Indian embassy.
“In response to queries from district authorities on the Indian side, their Nepali counterparts have conveyed that no report has been in this regard either.
“The embassy rejects allegations carried in sections of the Nepali media on above-mentioned incidents as baseless,” the embassy said.

Three districts in east affected by Maoist strike

Kathmandu, 6 June: Three districts in the east, including Sunsari and Morang, have been affected by a Maoist strike call Saturday protesting that they call unconstitutional action of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to retain Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal sacked by Maoists.
Maoists have been protesting the presidential action in parliament and on the streets.
Maoists broke prohibitory orders in front of Singha Durbar to hold anti-president protests Friday.
Dr Baburam Bhattarai was injured in protests in the capital Friday when police intervened.

Three Saudi princes visited Nepal

Kathmandu, 6 June: Three Saudi princes visited Nepal in a group of 13 persons unofficially for four days and flew to Tajikistan Friday in their personal Airbus 738,Kantipur reports.
They flew in from Kuala Lampur.
They stayed at Soaltee Hotel.
“They liked Nepal. They will return soon with their families,” said their agent Surendra Gurubacharya.
