Gachedhar demands 10 seats in government
Kathmandu, 12 June: Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar Friday demanded 10 ministerial berths in government—five full ministers and five ministers of state.
The demand was made at a meeting with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
They discussed a split in the MJF—terai’s largest political party.
Gachedhar opposed a Nepal plan to appease Maoists by retiring both Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal and Lt Gen Kul Bahadur Khadka honourably.

Shailja Acharya cremated with state honours
Kathmandu, 12 June: Shailja Acharya was cremated at Pashupatinath Aryaghat with full state honours Thursday in the presence of a large number of Congress activists.
The only surviving member of Congress Krishna Prasad Bhattarai paid his last respect by visiting the party where was kept briefly for viewing by public.
Bhattarai quit Nepali Congress after the party and Girija Prasad Koirala adopted a republican agenda.
