Govt. bows to pressure of civil servants (BREAKING NEWS)

Kathmandu, 16 July: Government Thursday morning bowed to pressures of government employees demanding pay hike and agreed ‘in principle’ to an increase.
Government Spokesman Shanker Pokhrel said this after an emergency cabinet meeting.
The cabinet is meeting again at one in the afternoon to discuss a hike, he said.
Pokhrel said an ‘unusual situation’ had been created by the two-day strike of government employees.
A final decision will be taken later Thursday, the spokesman said.
Minister confirms cholera outbreak
Kathmandu, 16 July: Government Spokesman Shanker Pokhrel Thursday confirmed deadly cholera epidemic has broken out in the hill districts of the mid-West.
Pokhrel confirmed this after a cabinet meeting.
In the worst- affected district of Jajarkot, more than 135 persons have died.
Army has been deployed to fight the epidemic.
