India to resume military assistance

Kathmandu, 24 July: India had agreed to resume supply of lethal and non-lethal weapons at concessional rates, Rajdhani reports.
India has reached a decision to lift the embargo announced about three years ago.
According to The Telegraph published from Kolkata, the defence ministry has begun the process.
Military assistance was stopped during the direct rule of King Gyanendra.
Quoting defence ministry sources, The Telegraph preparations are afoot for joint training programmes of Nepali and Indian armies.
India will also continue recruitment of Gurkhas.
India agreed to resume military supplies during a meeting between Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari and her Indian counterpart AK Anthony.
Chairman Chairman Prachanda warned during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Wednesday weapons import will invite bloodshed.
