Three Indians killed in accident

Kathmandu, 24 July: Three Indians, including a woman, were killed in a head-on collision between two buses at Gaidakot, Nawalparasi, Thursday, police said.
Sixteen Indians and four Nepalis were also injured.

Matrika Yadav elected coordinator

Kathmandu, 24 July: Matrika Yadav was Friday elected coordinator of a 21-member central committee of CPN (Maoist) after a three-day national convention in Janakpur.
Yadav launched the party after defecting from Unified CPN (Maoist).

Nepali commercial banks can now open foreign branches

Kathmandu, 24 July: Nepali banks and financial institutions will be permitted to open foreign branches, Naya Patrika reports.
This is being announced in a monetary policy being made public by Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) Friday.
Nabil Bank has applied for permission with NRB for technical service with a foreign bank while Himalayan Bank has applied for permission to expand in Bhutan.
The central bank, to regularize Indian currency, will control its purchase and sale only through licensed institutions.
The police was approved by the bank’s board Thursday.
Central bank decided banks will compulsorily have to invest in treasury bills, according to Kantipur.
Banks will have to invest 6 to 8 percent of total deposit in such bonds.
