Nepal, Prachanda talks inconclusive

Kathmandu, 5 July: Talks Saturday between Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoist Chairman Prachanda to run parliament proceedings smoothly were inconclusive.
Talks are being resumed Sunday.
Dr Baburam Bhattarai said Maoists will only permit the presentation of the vote pf accounts in parliament Sunday.
Maoists have been obstructing parliament session for two months demanding Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal address in a policy speech in parliament Maoist accusation a ceremonial president usurped power by overturning a Maoist decision to sack Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal.
Maoist have made a fresh demand to amend he constitution clearly defining the power of the president and prime minister.
Unified CPN(Maoists) said they won’t permit President Dr Ram Baran Yadav present the government’s policies and programmes in parliament.
The budget session of parliament has been delayed.

Six lawmakers meet Dalai Lama in Dharmashala

Kathmandu, 5 July: China has expressed serious concern after six lawmakers from four parties met the Dalai Lama in Dharmashala 22 June, Kantipur reports.
They are members of a party of a ruling coalition pursuing a one China policy.
The lawmakers are BP Yadav, Raj Kishore Yadav and Asha Kumari Sardar of the MJF, Ishwar Dayal Mishra of TMLP, Bishwendra Paswan of Dalit Janajati Party and Rukmini Chaudhari of Federal Loktantrik National Front.
A Chinese embassy official expressed concern at a meeting with a foreign ministry official Friday.

Maoists protecting killer: PM Nepal

Kathmandu, 5 July: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said Maoists are protecting killers, including a person who murdered Kathmandu businessman Ramhari Shrestha, Kantipur reports.
He said killers will be dealt severely.
Nepal said Maoists are keeping criminals in camps.
He said criminals should be handed over immediately.
Kali Bhadur Kham Bibid suspected for killing Shrestha is at a camp in Rolpa; he was also appointed to Unified CPN (Maoist) central committee.

Rubina Shrestha scores hat-trick

Kathmandu, 5 July: Rubina Shrestha scored a hat-trick when she took five wickers Saturday against Singapore becoming the first Nepali cricketer to achieve the rare feat in international cricket.
Nepal defeated Singapore in the ACC Women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
Nepal is playing Qatar Sunday
Nepal has won two matches so far and is playing for to qualify for the semi-finals.
