Last day of tika
Kathmandu, 2 Oct: Friday is the last day of tika which is still being offered and received.
Many government offices have re-opened after a long festive holiday.
Newspapers have also hit the newsstands.
16 killed in Bihar by Naxalites
Kathmandu, 2 Oct: Sixteen persons, including five children, were shot dead overnight by Naxalites or Indian Maoists across the border in Kataria district in Bihar.
Nearly 100armed Maoists attacked the villagers.
The attack followed a land dispute.
Indian federal and state governments have refused to negotiate with Naxalites despite acknowledging the communist insurgency is India’s biggest--worse than the insurgencies in Kashmir and the northeast districts.
More than 6,000 persons, including security officials, have been killed in the communist insurgency.
India has refused to negotiate with Naxalites while imposing Maoists on Nepal.
