More details of Kalapattar meet
Kathmandu, 4 Dec:
A cabinet meet in open clear skies starts at the base of Kalapattar a trekking peak next to Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak.
Weather is expected to be clear at the 5, 242 meter high site.
A news conference will be held at Syangboche after the historic meet.
Only 24 of the 40-plus council of ministers will be at Kalapattar.
Supply Minister, Rajendra Majoto, Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari, Health Minister Umakant Chandhary and Minister of State for Science Indra Prasad Dhungana at notable absentees.
The cabinet will declare Banke National Park while announcing Api Nampa Himal and Gauri Shanker national parks.

Nepal security talks with India, China

Kathmandu, 4 Dec: Nepal is holding separate security talks with India and China Friday.
Indian arms assistance to Nepal Army stalled during the royal regime before 2005 is being discussed.
A delegation led by Satish Mehta, head of the Nepal desk at the foreign ministry, arrived Thursday for negotiations.
A nine-member Tibetan military delegation led by Lt Gen Shu Yutai is arriving late Friday for negotiations with Nepal Army and senior civilian officials.
China has been pressing Nepal to deploy Armed Police along the Nepal-Tibet border to enhance security; Beijing has been concerned with activities of free Tibet advocates to destabilize Tibet.

Charged Maoists under party protection
Kathmandu, 4 Dec: Police haven’t arrested three persons charged for the murder of journalist Birendra Shah even after Maoist gave them district secretariat membership, Rajdhani reports from Bara.
Maoists have given Lal Bahadur Chaudhary, Hareram Patil and Kundan Faaujdar district secretariat membership even after the confirmation of their involvement in murder.
Police have issued arrest warrants.

24 gumbas in Valley under police watch
Kathmandu, 4 DecL Government intelligence department has put 24 gumbas or Buddhist monasteries under watch for free Tibet and anti-China activities, Kantipur reports.
Seven of them are on high watch category.
A secret report of the National Investigation Department to the home minister has recommended monitoring of 43 monasteries in the Valley.

Kathmandu, 4 Dec: Etihad Airways will operate daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Kathmandu from January 2010, the airline said.
The airline now operates four flights a week.
