Indian army chief to be honoured
Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: Indian Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor will Thursday be conferred the rank of honourary general of Nepal Army by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on the third day of a four-day visit.
He will hold discussions of defence cooperation with Defence Minister Bidya Bhandari as well.
Amid Maoist prote4sts, India has resumed supplies of military hardware suspended five years after royal rule.
Nepal and India have been exchanging high-level visits after normalization of relations between the two countries.
The president will pay a state visit of India later this year.

Local officials resume protests
Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: Officials of local bodies like municipalities resumed protests Thursday demanding facilities accorded government officials.
They charged government for not implementing agreements reached during earlier protests.
The capital’s municipal workers stopped lifting tons of garbage
from the streets.
