Maoists announce movement against govt.

Kathmandu, 7 April: Maoist Chairman Prachanda Tuesday announced a nation-wide movement against the government from Open Air Theatre and said hundreds of thousands will take to the streets 18 Baishak [1 May] against the government.
“The 10-month movement went unheard. A rebellion has now started. If this won’t suffice hundreds of thousands of people will take to the streets 18 Baiskak. It will be a new and decisive movement.”
He said the peace process won’t be concluded and a constitution won’t be promulgated until the government of Prime Minister Nepal continues.
He called for government change to complete the peace process and promulgate a constitution on time.
“The constitution will be promulgated only after the formation of a new national government,” Pushpa Kamal Dahal said.
‘Our party won’t help this government which is the most corrupt and incompetent in history.”
The demonstrations Tuesday marked the conclusion of the fourth phase of the anti-government and anti-president extended campaign.
Prachanda was soft towards Nepal Army and India.
“Today we have no enmity towards Nepal Army, Yesterday during regression it was a different matter. Maoists and Nepal Army can fight together for the country,” the Maoist chief said.
“We are not anti-Indian. We want replacement of old treaties and agreements with new ones. We are aware of the multidimensional and age-old people to people relations between Nepal and India,” he added.
Prachanda said a movement has been launched against ‘ghosts’ former King Gyanendra and former Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.
The last Shah king said recently monarchy wasn’t dead while Bhattarai demanded the revival of the 1990 constitution.
‘Ghosts have surfaced, It’s our duty to drive them away. Ghosts are threatening us saying the army is with them.”

Jhalanath Khanal denies signature campaign against PM

Kathmandu, 7 April: UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal denied there was signature campaign in the party for government change.
He said parties should work instead to promulgate a constitution within the 28 May deadline.
Khanal said this in Biratnagar Tuesday.
A meeting of the party’s parliamentary was suddenly called off during the weekend to thwart a resignation demand of the prime minister.

One child killed in Rautahat fire


Kathmandu, 7 April: One child was burnt to death and 11 houses were destroyed at a village in Rautahat overnight.
Bhusan Kumari Shah died in the fire.
In the peak summer season, fires are raging in the terai and hills were forests have been destroyed.

Two Indians killed in fire

Kathmandu, 7 April: Two Indians were killed in a fire at a furniture factory in Imadol-2, Lalitpur Tuesday.
The bodies of Ajaya Sherpa, 24, and Abhinish Sharma, 13, were charred beyond recognition.

Indian Naxalites kill 75 troops in fiercest attack so far

Kathmandu, 7 April: Indian Maoist rebels launched a series of devastating attacks on Tuesday on paramilitary forces patrolling the forests of eastern India, killing at least 75 troops in the deadliest strike against the government in the 43-year insurgency, AP reports out of Patna in Bihar.
The attack, which came amid a major Indian offensive aimed at crushing the Maoists fuelled concerns the government is sending poorly trained forces to the frontlines to battle the raging insurgency.
Indian Home Minister Pallaniappan Chidambaram, the nation’s top law enforcement official, said the attacks showed ‘the brutality and the savagery’ of the rebels.
At least 82 troops were in a patrol party that has spend three or four days scouring forests in the rebel stronghold of Dahtewada, in Chhattisgarh state, said R.K.Vij, the inspector general of state police.

ADBL shares oversubscribed

Kathmandu, 7 April: Shares of Agriculture Development Bank Ltd (ADBL) were oversubscribed one and—a=half times in three days after
going public.
Ace Development Bank managed the biggest issue so far.
ADBL floated 9.6 million shares at Rs 100 per share to raise Rs 960 million.
Altogether 55,000 persons applied for the shares.
