UML investigating demand within party calls for PM Nepal’s resignation; other details (DEVELOPING STORY)

Kathmandu, 3 May: UML’s central investigation commission headed by senior leader Amrit Bohara Monday began a probe into Sunday’s demand from 60 top leaders for the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal amid threats of disciplinary action.
The party has asked the premier to address the nation on Maoist demands for his resignation which he did and didn’t yield to the main opposition.
Sixty top leaders demanded Nepal’s resignation charging the premier was leading the country towards conflict and civil war.
Ten parties of the ruling coalition are meeting later Monday to discuss a Maoist indefinite strike that entered its second day.
Chairman Prachanda held discussions with Nepali Congress parliamentary party Ram Chandra Paudel amid a standoff and will later meet Nepali Congress Acting President Sushil Koirala and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal ahead of another meeting of three parties in the evening.
Maoists Monday smashed windows and damaged 12 computers at Maya Debi campus in Bhatrapur, Chitwan, where they gheraoed government offices.
Party activists attacked the Rashtriya Banijya Bank in Butwal.
Meanwhile, Nepal Army warned Monday it will rescue its soldiers from the streets if protestors again capture soldiers and hand them over to police saying three such incidents reported in television.
They were charged as spies.
