Three dead in tractor accident

Kathmandu, 12 June: Three persons, including a teenaged girl died Saturday morning when a tractor fell 500 meters off a narrow trail at Thulo bhir in Palpa.
Anita Baral, 12, died in the accident 40km away from district headquarters.

Huge cache of bombs, explosives recovered in capital


Kathmandu, 12 June: Police recovered a huge cache of bombs, explosives and a rocket launcher during a raid on a home in front of Ishan Nursing Home in Bashundhara in the northern outskirt of the capital Friday night.
Police conducted a raid on a tip-off from Bishnu Shah, prime suspect is a car bomb blast Tuesday morning injuring seven persons.
Police recovered rocket launcher, socket bombs, cassette bombs, bucket bombs and explosives packed in seven cartons.

Load-shedding increased

Kathmandu, 12 June: Load-shedding will be increased three hours every day for four days a week from Monday disappointing soccer fans keep to follow the World Cup matches in South Africa.
Nepal Electricity Authority, which reduced power cuts to six hours every day 15 days ago, announced the cuts Saturday.
Power outage has been increased 12 hours a week; load-shedding is enforced for six every day.
The power cuts will continue until Kulekhani repairs are completed and river level rises.
Nepal is experiencing a dry spell as the monsoon is expected to break soon.

Another male rhino killed in Chitwan

Kathmandu, 12 June: Another male rhino has been poached in Chitwan National Park.
The carcass of the endangered species without its hoofs and horn was was discovered at Dumariya Friday.
Eight rhinos have died or been poached in two months.

Child injured in Janakpur shooting

Kathmandu 12 June: Four-year-old Amit Kayar was injured overnight when an unknown group shot him overnight at Ramananda chowk in Janakpur.
Kayar has been rushed to Dharan for treatment.
Police suspect the group probably attempted to shoot dead Ram Pukar Yadav, a local rights group leader, who was near a shop where the shooting broke out.
One day earlier, a government worker was shot and killed in the town.

Nepal is most corrupt in South Asia: TI

Kathmandu, 12 June: Nepal has slid further in global corruption index of Transparency International (TI), RSS reports.
The report of 20009 has listed Nepal in 143 position out of 180 countries, The country was in 138 position in 2008.
TI makes the transparency and impartiality of election system as the main basis to study activities related to corruption.
The report lists New Zealand as the least corrupt country and Somalia as the most corrupt country.
Among South Asian countries, Nepal is the most corrupt country and Bhutan is the least corrupt nation. The report states Nepal’s government bodies account for most of the corruption.
