Two seats vacant

Kathmandu, 20 Aug.: Two seats in the 601-member parliament/constituent assembly are vacant following the death of Ram KumariYadav from Dhanusha and the resignation of another Maoist Ram Kumar Sharma from Mohottari.
Bye-elections have to be held before 30 November.

Lawyer shot

Kathmandu, 20 Aug.: Advocate Padam Dahal escaped without injury after he was shot in front of the Chitwan district police office. Thursday.
Dil Bahadur Tamang surrendered to police admitting he shot Dahal.

Kathmandu, 20 Aug.: Nepal is virtually out of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division-III qualification race after losing to USA Thursday in Italy in the Division-IV match.
Nepal was all out for 140 runs on 49.3 overs chasing a target of 204 runs in 50 overs,

JMCC meet put off

Kathmandu, 20 Aug.: The meeting of Joint Monitoring Coordination Committee scheduled for Friday has been postponed for a week following a request from Nepal Army (NA), The Kathmandu Post reports.
The nine-member committee comprising three representatives each from UNMIN, the NA and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was supposed toltake up the recruitment drive started by the NA and PLA this month.
It acts as a dispute resolution mechanism regarding the implementation of Agreement on Monitoring of the Management of Arms and Armies.
‘The next meeting will beheld on Aug.25,” said UMNMIN Spokesman Kosmos Bishwakarma said on Thursday.
