Buddha Air ATR develops fault

Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: A Buddha Air ATR developed a snag and made an emergency landing at Bhairahawa airport nine minutes after takeoff from the airport.
The nature of the snag wasn’t immediately known.
The aircraft with four passengers and four crew members was heading for the capital.

Narayanman Bijukakchaya demands presidential rule

Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: Narayanman Bijukakchaya, Chairman of Nepal Majdoor Kishan Party, Saturday at a meeting in Bhaktapur demanded presidential rule by dissolving the constituent assembly (CA)
“There’s already a possibility,” he said.
He said the CA has lost its utility has been lost after failure to proclaim a constitution and repeated inability to elect a prime minister.

SC stay order lifted

Kathmandu, 4 Sept. Single bench of the supreme court Friday lifted a stay order blocking Energy Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat from overturning the appointment of Arjun Karki executive director of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project.
Karki was appointed by Energy Secretary Shanker Koirala.
A spat developed between the minister and secretary.

Janamorcha meet begins in Pokhara

Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: A two-day third national convention of reorganized Janamorcha Nepal was inaugurated in Pokhara Friday by central chairman Bharat Dahal.
Altogether 125delegates from 40 districts are participating.
The convention will elect a new leadership.
The meeting will approve policy and programme for merger with CPN (Maoist) led by Matrika Yadav.

Actor injured in shooting blast

Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: Actor Hari Bista, who is an accomplished judo player, was injured in a blast during shooting Jaljala Friday at Kurintar, Jhan Naya reports.
He was seriously injured in the left eye injury in a blast during shooting.

Bagmati action plan takes off

Kathmandu, 4 Sept.: With the view to restoring and conserving Bagmati River and its tributaries, the Bagmati Action Plan 2009.2014 has been announced on Friday with a proposed budget of Rs 16 billion, Republica reports.
By incorporating cultural, ecological and other dimensions, the plan has intricately dissected the quality of Bagmati water and level of pollution by dividing the Bagmati stretch into zones.
It has determined that zone I and II are last polluted, zone III as the stretch with an average level of pollution and zone IV and V as the most polluted.
Zone IV and V include stretch between Pashupati and Teku Doban.
“India wants to send its technical team here to start the project. Bagmati treatment plant will also be a pilot project for India’s own plan to process Ganga River,” a National Trust for Nature Conservation official said.
