GOVT. BARS KING FROM KUMARI PUJA (BREAKING NEWS)

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 21 Sept,: Government restricting the free movement of a citizen and Tuesday stopped former King Gyanendra from going to Basantapur where nine former Kumaris considered Living Goddesses were honoured.
One Kumari is 90.
Government deployed police around Nirmal Niwas to restrict his movement after deciding to intervene in his regular visits to temples to offer prayers and puja.
The former king has attracted huge crowds during his visits to temples in the Valley, Biratnagar, central terai and Nepangunj since March as government and parties have failed to institutionalize a republic declared by a self-appointed and unelected parliament.
The increasing popularity of the former king has obviously unnerved parties and government prompting government intervention.
The then king’s popularity is on the upswing as the country is caught in a messy quagmire with government inability to deliver results.
Nepalis and Nepal are suffering as parties benefit from the four-year transition.
Portraits of the former long and former queen Komal were placed at their seats; they were special invitees at the programme to facilitate former Living Goddesses during Indrajatra.
Organizers condemned the government intervention.
