NEPAL SUCCUMBING TO INDIAN GOVT. PRESSURE

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: Indications unfolded Nepal government was succumbing to Indian government pressure to take action against Maoists for a shoe attack on Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood in Solokhumbu at the foot of Mount Everest during Dasain.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said in Dang Wednesday the attack had created problems.
He said the Maoist attack was against the Geneva Convention and action would be taken.
A Maoist legislator was involved in the attack in which the government asked the district CDO to submit a report.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala said Wednesday India and Nepal government took the incident seriously.
“India government has taken it seriously. We have also taken it seriously,” she said.
She revealed Russian ambassador, who is the dean of the diplomatic corps, has also protested the incident.
Government hasn’t acted against attackers nearly three weeks after the incident.
Sood has been running from pillar to post demanding action.
Indian foreign ministry summoned Nepali Ambassador Rukma Shumshere Rana this month to protest the attack dismissed by Chairman Prachanda as an act of the Nepali people.
He minimized the incident and said after return from Beijing Tuesday even former US President George W. Bush had been similarly attacked.
India is asking for action against an attack on its envoy disregarding daily killings and attacks and murders of civilians by mainly Maoists and groups in the terai.
Maoist public attacks on their opponents is common,
UN has even supported rights to come out on streets to protest as a bsic human right.
The protests have been violent, sustained and planned.
UN has remained silent on the attack.
Maoists said they resorted to the attack to protest anti-China activities by China along the Nepal-Tibet border.

MORE DETAILS OF PM SPEAK IN DANG

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said in Dang Wednesday failure to elect his successor for the 13th in parliament Tuesday has marred the country’s image internationally.
“It’s not good for the country,” he said.
Nepal referred to the extended political deadlock and said ‘the solution is not
in Washington or Beijing” without mentioning India.
Nepal urged ‘understanding amid misunderstanding’ between parties.
He denied foreign intervention in Nepal make repeatedly by Maoists.
He warned the country will face a ‘sudden crisis’ without integration and resettlement of 19,000 Maoist former combatants in 28 camps and cantonments under UNMIN watch.
The caretaker prime minister asked parties to engage in ‘serious talks’ to end the deadlock.
He blamed Maoists squarely for deadlock saying they ‘can’t be rusted’.

PRESIDENT IN XIAN

Kathmandu, 27 Oct. President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Wednesday arrived in Xian on the second day of his week-long China visit.
He flew in from Lhasa where he held political discussions with officials of the Communist Party of China and government leaders in Tibet.
Yadav asked China to extend a railway network from the mainland up to the Nepal border.
He visited the famous Potala Palace of the exiled Dalai Lama.

DR, BABURAM DEFIES GOVT. TO TAKE AGAINST MAOIST PLS MEMBERS AND OFFICIALS

Kathmandu, 27 Oct.: Maoist Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai said government can’t act against Maoists who can travel anywhere during leave.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal denied he had claimed he would act against Maoists whose PLA delegation visited Beijing during Dasain.
He first threatened action.

THREE STARS CLUB ENTERS SEMI-FINALS

Kathmandu, 28 Oct.: Three Stars Club Wednesday entered the semi-finalof the Governor’s Gold Cup in Sikkim.
The Nepali team defeated Bengal Mumbai Football; Club 1-0 through a goal scored in the fifth minute of the match.
