PRESIDENT EFFORTS TO END DEADLOCK

Kathmandu, 19 Oct.: A concerned President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Tuesday morning attempted to end the prolonged deadlock by holding collective discussions with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and leaders of three biggest parties.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda, NC President Sushil Koirala and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal attended the meeting in which the presentation of the delayed annual budget for fiscal 2010//11 was also discussed.
The full budget hasn’t been presented even three months after the beginning of the fiscal year.
Government officials said only Rs 8 billion remains in the current account and by the 16 November the government won’t have any money to run the administration.
A financial crisis looms.
Maoist leader Deb Gurung Monday took a hard-line approach and warned a caretaker government can’t present a full budget.

TASK FORCE ON CONSTITUTION DRAFT TO MEET

Kathmandu, 19 Oct.: A task force headed by Chairman Prachanda to narrow down differences on 230 contentions points to be included in a constitution to institutionalize a republic meets Tuesday as the Dasain holidays end.
The task force has to prepare a report on ways to eliminate the differences by Friday.
Eight of 11 subject committees of the constituent assembly differ on the points, including the form of government and a stat e structure.

WOMAN COMMITS SIISCIDE

Kathmandu, 19 Oct.: Sita BK committed suicide in a Bhaktapur prison cell overnight by hanging herself.
She was arrested for allegedly hacking to death her daughter-in-law.
