25 OF 27 PARTIES SUPPOR GOVT. PLAN TO PRESENT FULL BUDGET (DEVELOPING STORY)

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Twenty-five of 27 parties in parliament invited by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Wednesday to support a presentation of a delayed complete budget in parliament Friday supported the government initiative.
Two parties had reservations.
The budget will be approved with the majority vote of Maoists, CNC and UML.

TASK FORCE MEET INCONCLUSIVE

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: A meeting of a high-powered Prachanda-led task force to eliminate differences on 230 contentious issues to be included in a constitution dispersed Wednesday after disagreement until 1 December.
The meeting was dispersed to enable Maoists to concentrate attention of their plenum which begins in Gorkha Sunday.
Differences continued for the second day on Maoist proposal to acquire land beyond ceiling without paying compensation—a proposal opposed by NC and UML.
The task force has to submit a report on 11 December on ways to narrow differences to draft a constitution to institutionalize a declared republic.

HUSBAND SHOOTS, INJURES WIFE IN JANAKPUR

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Prabhu Chaudhary fled after shooting and injuring his wife in the stomach in Janakpur Wednesday with a crude pistol.
The wife is recovering from stomach wounds at a health facility in the town.

NEPAL’S HOPES OF MEDAL IN WOMEN’S CRICKET AT ASIAD DASHED

Kathmandu, 17 Nov.: Nepal’s hopes of a medal in the 16th ASIAD in China was dashed with Japan defeating the Nepali women’s team Wednesday. November 17, 2010I cricket.
Nepal would have qualified for the semi-final with a victory over Japan.
Nepal was bowled out for 90 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
Japan scored 135 runs for the loss of four wickets, batting first.
Nepal hasn’t collected any medal in the Asian so far in the sporting dominated by host China, South Korea, Japan and North Korea.
