FOURTH ROUND OF BIG THREE SUMMIT INCONCLUSIVE

Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: A fourth round summit talks of the Big Three on the capital was inconclusive Thursday.
The first round was held in at a resort near Kirtipur and two rounds were conducted in Gokarna.
Talks centered around power-sharing.
NC first rejected a communist-style presidium should run government.
A fresh proposal to appoint a prime minister on rotation basis with Maoists, NC and UML leading the government.
The top leaders of the three parties met ahead of Friday’s presentation of the annual budget by the caretaker government.

BABURAM BHATTARAI PLACATES NA


Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: Maoist Vice-chairman Wednesday attempted to placate the Nepal Army (NA) at a public programme in the capital.
“We want to improve the relationship with the security agencies so we are cautious that 150,000 security forces should not be infuriated while we resolve the fate of 19,000 combatants.
“Maoists aren’t for maintaining a separate force. NA and PLA aren’t opponents of each other. Both are state organs.
“Maoist combatants are the state’s army. They’re not the army of Maoists,” Dr Bhattarai said added people against peace and constitution are erecting a wall between NA and PLA—a wall that should be dismantled.

BANGLADESH TEAM COMING

Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: Dr.Mashiur Rahman, Advisor of Bangladesh Prime Sheikh Hashina Wajed, arrives for a two-day visit Sunday as head of a six-member team.
Discussions will center around investments in the hydropower sector.
Nepal, India and Bangladesh recently agreed to construct power transmission line linking the three countries.

103-YEAR-OLD WINDOW OF INDIA GURKHA COLLECTS PENSION

Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: A 103-year-old widow of an Indian Gurkha Wednesday collected pension from a camp of the Indian Army Board in Gulmi, Gorkhapatra reports from the district.
Kalawati Panthi collected the pension.
The Indian government recently decided to award pensions to widows of Indian Gurkhas.

UNICEF INVESTMENT MISUSED

Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: Stakeholders have accused that there has been massive misappropriation of funds provided by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for education in Siraha, RSS reports from Lahan.
Speakers at a review workshop organized here on Tuesday by the District Education Office voiced their concerns alleging that the UNICEF fund for educational institutions has been embezzled.
