PRESIDENT, SPEAKER MEET
Kathmandu, 21 March: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Monday held political discussions with Speaker Subash Nemwang Monday folloding detailed talks with Prime Minister Jalanath Khanal one day earlier.
Although a constitutional president, he’s been publicly expressing dissatisfaction with the prolonged political deadlock.
Surya Thapa, the prime minister’s press advisor, said the discussions on the constitution and peace process were routine.

MAN ARRESTED FOR CONDUCTING DEATH RITUALOF 601 LEGISLATORS
Kathmandu, 21 March: Local authorities in Pokhara Sunday released Rakesh Kumar Sharma of Bardiya following intervention by locals and human rights workers on his behalf after performing sharadhya [Hindu religious ritual fort the dead] of 601 legislators on the street at Prithvi Chowk..
Sharma had performed the ritual on other parts towns of the country.
Human rights groups and locals protested the arrest.
The protestor was expressing dissatisfaction with the delay in promulgating the basis law; the second deadline to promulgate it by 28 May is unlikely to be met.
The ritual was conducted even as police attempted to stop it.

PM”S PRESS ADVISOR SAYS INDIAN AMBASSADOR’S MEET WITH PM UNOFFICIAL
Kathmandu, 21 March: Surya Thapa, Press Advisor of Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, has minimized Sunday’s meeting of the government chief with Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood as ‘unofficial’.’
We’ll have detailed discussions in an official meet,” Nagarik quoted Khanal as telling Sood who discussed the peace process, constitution drafting and other issues.
Sood met Khanal for the first time after his election 3 February.
Thapa revealed the conversation after the premier started an initiative to regularize his meetings with ambassadors through the foreign ministry and in the presence of its officials.
Ambassadors have had controlled access to the premier and other
ministries and ministries.
Foreign representatives have protested attempts to regulate such
unlimited, uncontrolled and unmonitored access.

premier.

CIAA OFFICIAL IN SEOUL ON NEPAL POLICE QUOTA
Kathmandu, 21 March: On the pretext of inspecting the quality of
weapons being purchased by Nepal Police from South Korea, a
senior official of CIAA has reached Seoul on the quota of NP, Samacharpatra reports.
The purchase by tender of pistols, riot control equipment and
shotguns is routed through Dynasty Traders of Nepal.
Joint Secretary Sameer Silwal is in Seoul without the knowledge of
senior NP officials.
Other CIAA officials are surprised Silwal is in a team with police
and traders when the investigating authority probes complaints of
irregularities.
A hue and cry has bee raised in NP objecting to sending a CIAA
official on its quota.
