ASSEMBLY MEET DISTRUBED IN CHAIR THROWING INCIDENT

MAIN CONSTITUTION DRAFTING COMMITTEE MEET
ADJOURNED AFTER ROW

Kathmandu, 1 April: A meeting of a main constitution drafting committee
headed by Nilambar Acharya discussing a federal structure and other
differences in articles to be incorporated in a proposed constitution was
adjourned until Tuesday after an assembly member hired a chair from the fourth floor of the assembly hall to draw attention on rights of Dalits, Muslims and other minorities.
Assembly member Bhisenvendra Paswas had no regrets
Referring to Maoists he said,” If some raise guns to draw attention, why can’t I throw a chair,” Paswan said.
He stood up for two hours along with a Muslim member and charged Dalits, Muslims and minorities were sidelined in constitution drafting by bug parties and their leaders.
The committee’s meeting was disturbed for the second consecutive day.

SLC EXAMS 2011 CONCLUDES

Kathmandu, 1 April: Eight-day SLC examinations for 2011 concluded Friday.
Altogether 500,002 students appeared for the annual tests.
Results are expected in three months.
Action has been taken against that four dozen officials for improper
Conduct.
More than 200 students were caught cheating.
The daughter of a UML woman legislator appeared for the first three tests.

A GIRL STUDENT KILLED IN BUS ACCIDENT

Kathmandu, 1 April: Pratikshya Paudel, a sixth grade student of Valley Top
Boarding School in Dang when a bus fell 75 meters off a road Friday.
Twenty-three other students on a picnic were injured, four seriously, at Laxmipur VDC in the far-West district.
