NO PM STATEMENT ON FINANCE SECRETARY RESIGNATION;

Kathmandu, 1 April: Parliament was adjourned until Tuesday after Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Wednesday didn’t appear to present government position on the resignation of Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal.
The legislative session was adjourned by Speaker Subash Nemwang
without taking up agenda items.
Main opposition NC obstructed proceedings charging Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari for forcing the exit of Khanal who has been described as an incorruptible official.
NC opposed ruling of the Speaker Adhikari would present government
position of the issue.

NC DISCUSSES ACTIVATING STUDENT WING
Kathmandu, 1 April: The NC central committee Friday couldn’t conclude
its discussion on ways to activate the Nepal Students’ Union- the student
wing of the main opposition.
The committee will continue discussions Saturday.
The union has become dysfunctional for several years with factions supporting President President Sushil Koirala and three-time Prime Minister Shr Bahadur Deuba.
A two-member panel led by General Secretary Prakash Man Singh has
suggested dissolving the present central committee of the union and, creation of an
ad hoc body to conduct elections for a new body.
The suggestion is opposed by the Deuba faction with strong support in the
central committee.

INDIAN LEADER ATTEMPTING MEDIATION BETWEEN MAOISTS,
INDIAN GOVT.SAYS PRACHANDA SOUGHT NEW DELHI INVITE

Kathmandu, 1 April: An Indian leader attempting to improve bitter ties between
Nepal’s Maoists and the Indian government claimed Friday Maoist strongman Prachanda sought an invite from the Indian government which hasn’t materialized.
“He [Prachanda] wrote to me expressing his interest to visit India to clear misunderstanding between the Indian establishment and his party. I wanted
Prachanda to visit India by March end. But that depends on Indian
government’s position,” Sharad Yadav, President of Janata Dal (United)
and convener of the opposition coalition National Democratic Alliance
(NDA) told The Kathmandu Post in New Delhi.
It wasn’t clear if the Maoist chief wrote to Yadav following the Indian
opposition leader’s wish Prachanda visit India.
“Prachanda visited China as his first foreign trip after becoming the prime minister. Though there is nothing wrong in it, a section of Indian intellectuals is
very sensitive about Nepal,” he revealed
“I have been involved in discussions with members of the Indian
government to strengthen this relationship [Indo-Nepal],” Yadav confirmed.
He reveled he held discussions with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
and Foreign Minister SM Krishna.
Without naming NC, Yadav said,” The section that claims to have some democratic credential should not unnecessarily raise suspicion on the Maoists, who

He criticized Indian Ambassador and said;”I don’t think India policy in
Nepal is in the right direction.”
Attacking Sood, Yadav said,” I came to learnt hat thr Indian ambassador to
Nepal has crossed his limits, I have presented my view to Prime Minister
Singh.”
