PRESIDENT PRORUGUES WINTER SESSIONOF PARLIAMENT UPDATE

Kathmandu, 22 April: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on the advice of the prime minister prorogued the 9th winter session of parliament session through a notification Friday read out in parliament by Speaker Subash Nemwang from nine at night.
Nemwang made the announcement as four lawmakers obstructed two sessions chanting slogans in front of the speaker’s chair charging big parties had ignored interests of small parties and majority groups for incorporation in a proposed constitution.
Main opposition NC opposed announcement of a whitepaper on budgetary plans of the government through a news conference while parliament was in session.

TERRORISM COMMON CONCERNOF NEPAL, INDIA; INDIAN FOREIGN MINISTER UPDATE

Kathmandu, 22 April: Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna said before leaving for home Friday, leaders assured him of the apolitical character of Nepal Army (NA).
He said peace process and constitution should be completed soon.
and an inconclusive and democratic basic law should be adopted.
He called for the security of Indian-aided development projects and the Indian embassy saying ’terrorism is common concern’ and called for an early ratification of an extradition treaty.
He drew the serious attention of the prime minister and deputy prime drawn to security treats of the embassy and Indian-aided development projects,he said.

FURTHER DETAILS OF PRACHANDA, INDIAN FOREIGN MEET

Kathmandu, 22 April: Giving more details of his Friday meeting with Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna who concluded a three-day Nepal visit, Maoist Chairman Prachanda furnished more details of the hour-long meeting.
Prachanda recalled he discussed ‘difficulties’ in the last two years during
“We discussed difficulties in the last two years when I was prime minister” and even during election for government later, Prachanda said.
He mentioned specifically the showdown with Nepal Army when he was prime minister for nine months and the ‘difficulty’ during electionfor prime minister later.
‘This also should be looked into,”Prachanda said as Maoists have been charging Indian of interfering in Nepal’s internal affairs.
Prachanda said he discussed his party’s and India’s ‘concerns’.
“They put their concerns on security and economic.” Prachanda said/..
“We take their concerns seriously. That was the conclusion,” Prachanda told reporters after the meeting.
He was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who is chief of the party foreign department.

RAM CHANDRA PAUDEL, KRISHNA PRASAD SHITAULA NOMINATTION CONFIRMED UPDATE

Kathmandu, 22 April: the nominations of Ram Chandra Paudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula as NC vice-president and general secretary respectively by president Sushil Koirala were confirmed belatedly by elected central committee members Friday.
Arjun Narsingh KC stayed neutral in voting.
Before the committee began, President Sushil Koirala and rival Sher Bahadur Deuba agreed on a package solution.
Deuba is seeking appointments of his loyalists on the central committee and non-dissolution of central bodies operating affiliated organizations, including Nepal Students’ Union.
“The message of unity is good. But it should be institutionalized,” KC said.

MOHAN BAIDYA PRACHANDA PLANS

Kathmandu, 22 April: Maoist Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya presented a separate and different political report for adoption by the Maoist central committee Friday. .
Baidya challenged a political report of Chairman Prachanda ‘temporarily’ abandoning the policy of people’s revolt adopted by the Palungtar plenum charging Prachanda for adopting a revisionist line.
After a review of his last political report, Prachanda instead prioritized peace and constitution drafting—a opposition close to another Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai.
Discussions on the two separate papers will begin at the central committee Saturday for adoption/

NEPAL OUT OF AFC PRESIDENT CUP


Kathmandu, 22 April Nepal Police was bundled out s out of the AFC President’s Cup Group C qualifying round after it lost by two goals to Balkan FC of Turkmenistan Friday.
