PRESIDENT INTERVENESON BEHALF OF BHUTAN REFUGEES

FINANCE MINISTER AGAIN CALLS FOR COMPLETE BUDGET

Kathmandu, 6 April: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat
Mohan Adhikari called for a new budget coinciding with the new year 2068 in another two weeks.
He said this in his hometown Biratnagar.
Maoists are calling for a supplementary for the remaining
three months of the current fiscal year arguing they oppose a budget
presented by the previous government.
Maoists oppose a full budget before the fiscal year ends.
A plan to present supplementary budget was foiled by the sudden
resignation of Finance Secretary who exposed plans to prepare it without consultations in the concerned finance ministry.

PLOT TO REMOVE RAMESHWOR KAHNAL FROM FINANCE
MINISTRY FOILED

Kathmandu, 6 April: It has come to light Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Deputy Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal were set to remove Rameshwor Khanal from thefinance ministry, Annapurna Post reports.
Khanal’s name was suggested as vice-chairman of national planning commission after amid indications donors would oppose his transfer to other ministries.
Khanal would be a hindrance in the fiancé ministry and plans were
hatched to replace him at any cost, a source at the Office of the Prime
Minister and Council of Ministers revealed.

LAND DISPUTE BETWEEN PM KHANAL AND MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL

Kathmandu, 6 April: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal said in his assets declared recently, eight annas of land in Koteshwor registered since 2044 in Madhav Kumar Nepal’s family name remain to be transferred, Kantipur reports.
A source said the dispute remains since 2044 because of differences between the two leaders.
They bought 18 annas jointly—10 annas for Nepal and eight annas for Khanal.
All the plot was bought in the name of Gyatri, wife of Nepal, because
Nepal and Khanal couldn’t go to the government office for registration
then fearing arrest.

CHINESE CITIZEN FACING FRAUD CHARGES

Kathmandu, 6 April: The special court has issued notice to Chinese national Wi Lixing to appear within 30 days to face money laundering charges in relation to the
transfer of $1 million into his bank account in Nepal, The Himalayan
Times reports.
In the charge sheet government has claimed the transferring bank had not
provided legitimate sources of income forwaded in Lixing’s account by Nepal Bangladesh Bank Balaju branch.
The RID stated US Chase International Bank could not provide additional
details and the Chinese national has already left Nepal.

PRESIDENT INTERVENES ON BEHALF OF BHUTANESE REFUGEES

Kathmandu, 6 April: Expressing concern about the prolonged Bhutanese
refugee crisis, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav drew government’s attention on the need to take the issue forward in favour of repatriation, The Himalayan
Times reports.
The Office of the President wrote to the Foreign Ministry to this effect
after the president met refugee representatives, including Bhutanese Refugee Repatriation Committee Coordinator Bhampa Rai.
