DEATH TOLL MOUNTS IN ITAHARI BUS COLLISIONS
(UPDATE)

Kathmandu, 4 April: Ten persons died and 72 were injured in a
head-on collision between two buses near Itahari, Sunsari,
on the Mahendra Highway Monday, fresh reports said.
Three died on the spot and seven died en roué to or at hospitals
in the region.
Three dead have been identified so far, including a woman.

PARLIAMENT MEETS AFTER TWO DISPRUPTIONS BY MAIN OPPOSITION

Kathmandu, 4 April: MaIn opposition NC didn’t disrupt
proceedings of parliament Monday after two obstructions
last week demanding a statement from Prime Minister
Jhalanath Khanal on the sudden and embarrassing walkout
from office by Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal.
The government chief told parliament he was stunned by
the resignation.
He assured the legislature government will take stern
action against business houses and businessmen who
attempted to evade tax by presenting fake bills.
NC obstructed two parliamentary sessions last week demanding
an explanation of the secretary’s resignation.

BRITISH GURKHA SIZE TO BE TRIMMED

Kathmandu, 4 April: The strength of the British Gurkhas will
be trimmed over the next four years beginning September
as part of a British government austerity drive, British
embassy said Monday.
The Gurkha strengthen will be trimmed by 700 in the next
four years to settle at a 2,900 force.
