WIDESPREAD TRANSFERS IN THREE VALLEY PRISONS

THREE DEAD,ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN DHADING ACCIDENT (UPDATE)

Kathmandu, 3 April: The death toll in the Dhading private vehicle accident
Sunday increased to three and one passenger is seriously injured.
First reports said two were dead and two were seriously injured when the vehicle
plunged into Trishuli river.

UML STANDING COMMITTEE CONTIINUES
LATE NIGHT DISCUSSION UNTIL 9.30

Kathmandu, 3 April: UML standing committee Sunday continued late night discussions on expanding the party government team ad other current issues.
Madhav Kumar Nepal Prime Miinister Jhalanath Khanal should hand
responsibility of the home miistryto someoneelse.
Maoists have been demanding thw ministry—opposed by Nepal and another
influential standing committee member KP Sharma Oli—a voluble critic of the government chief..
Nepal said the bombings of public buses in terai by armed rebel groups was
another serious challenge for Khanal.
He asked government to be serious on security.
He made the comments during a tour of the far-West Sunday; he returned to the
capital to attend the standing committee meeting.
The former government and party chief said a constitution should be promulgated within 28 May without extending the constituent assembly tenure.

ANOTHER SWEEPING CHANGE OF GUARD AT THREE VALLEY PRISONS

Kathmandu, 3 April: All members of police teams, including senior officials, deployed to guard three prisons in the Valley were suddenly transferred Friday by Metropolitan Police Headquarters after coming under heavy fire from within the organization and the public.
Replacements were replaced at the high security Central Jail in Sundhara,
Dilli Bazzar Khor and Nakkhu Jail in Lalitpur.
Spokesman said 250 personnel were re-deployed.
IGP Ramesh Chand Thahuri Friday summoned senior police officers and reviewed security at prisons following serious lapses.
Three officers were suspended and 50 personnel were transferred when Tashi
Lama was found conducting criminal activities even from prison.
A Pakistani serving a jail sentence escaped from hospital where he was transferred from Central Jail for treatment for a heart condition.
Hired Indian Manmeet Singh failed in an attempt to shoot dead Nepali media
tycoon Yunis Ansari at Sundhara.
The transfers come after repeated security lapses at prisons.
French serial killer Charles Shobraj serving sentences for murders of an
American and Canadian is also serving a prison sentence at Central Jail.
Sigh met Shobraj more than a dozen timed before the unsuccessful attempt to
assassinate Ansari.
