The meeting comes immediately after a faction in the party led by him criticized Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal for Wednesday’s delayed reshuffle and expansion of his government by delivering the home ministry to Maoists.
Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara is the new home minister.
Khanal was criticized in the party politburo for taking a personal decision ignoring an institutional directive not to handover the home ministry to Maoists until completion of the peace process.
Khanal flew for Istanbul Friday night.
He briefed President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on his foreign trip.
Khanal will face charges against him at the central committee and politburo after he returns from Turkey.
The reshuffle has heightened rift in the UML leading the government besides creating political uncertainty and hence the importance of the Nepal/ president meet.
