MORE DETAILS OF GOVT. EXPANSION AND REFHUFFLE

Kathmandu, 4 May: Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara: took over charge of the home ministry on behalf of Maoists and handed over the responsibilities of the communication ministry he was handling to Agni Sapkota.
Sapkota was appointed minister even as there’s a standing court order for his arrest toface charges for rights abuses during the people’s insurgency at a district court in central Nepal.
USA didn’t grant him a visa last year to attend the annual UN general assembly session in September.
Shakti Bahadur Basnet is health minister, Hit Bahadur Tamang minister for youth and sports, Ram Sharan Chaudhary land reforms minister, Bishwonath Shah: minister for peace and reconstruction, Prabhu Shah law minister from the Maoist team.

Women and children minister Jayapuri Gharti:and Industry minister Children and

Mahendra Paswan: didn’t take their oaths of office and secrecy administered by Premier Khanal in the presence of President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.
Dharmasila Chapagain, Devi Khadka, Haki Kulla Khan and Dhruba Kumar Limbu were appointed statemnisters from Maoist quota.
Peace Minister Barsha Man Pun resigned in protest after the home ministry responsibility was given to Mahara.
Maoists will have control over Nepal Police and Armed Police Force with takeover of the home ministry; the combined forces are bigger that the 80,000 Nepal Army size.
Maoists pushed for control of home ministry and showed no interest in taking charge of the defence minisry after a showdown with them nearly two years ago when Prachanda headed a government for nine months.
The Maoists were forced to resign after the confrontation with the army.


MJFN Charman Upendra Yadav joined the government as deputy prime minister, and foreign minister.

Hari Narayan Chaudhary was appointed agriculture and cooperatives minister,

Mohammad Istiyak Rai labour minister and Nanda Kumar Dutta: state minister for agriculture from the MJFN quota.

Ghanashyam Bhusal (UML) was appointed minister without portfolio.
Sunil Manandhar joined as environment minister from CPN (United).
Top UML leader Pradip Geywali and youth wing of the premier’s party said they’ll raise the unilateral decision of the premier to handover the leadership of the home ministry to Maoists against the directive of the standing committee at the politburo meeting Thursday.

DRIVER SHOT AND INJURED IN TAPLEJUNG

Kathmandu, 4 May: Bus driver Purna Thapa was shot and injured Wednesday in the shoulder at Khare khole in Taplegunj when three gunmen shot him.
Their identities weren’t known.
He was driving a bus to the distruct from Birtamod, Jhapa.

SHIVA GAUNLE ELECTED FNJ CHIEF

Kathmandu, 4 May:: Shiva Gaunle was elected president of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) for a three-year term Wednesday.
He was supported by UML and Maoists and defeated Poshan KC supported by NC.
