GOVT. BEING EXPANDED TUESDAY

Kathmandu, 3 May: Government is being expanded for the fourth time Tuesday three months after Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal was elected 3 February with Maoist support, the government chief’s press aide Surya Thapa said.
Maoists office bearers approved the second list of its government list Tuesday morning to be sent to the premier; a four-member Maoists is led by Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
Oaths oaf office and secrecy are being administered to the new entrants to government Tuesday.
MJFN will be sending a four-member team to government led by its chairman Upendra Yadav who will be deputy prime minister and foreign minister.
Government will now have three parties with MJFN deciding to join Maoists and UML in government.

PM KHANAL, MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL MEET

Kathmandu, 3 May: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal went to the residence of his archrival and critic Madhav Kumar Nepal and held hour-long discussions Tuesday in a bid to improve soured personal relations, Khanal’s press aide Surya Thapa said.
Relations between Khanal, who is UML also chairman, soured after Nepal was ousted from premiership by Khanal three months ago with Maoist support after 21 months in office.
Nepal along with KP Oli faction in the UML have even been threatening Khanal to oust him from government and party leadership for hobnobbing with Maoists against party policy by negotiating a secret 7-point with Maoist Chairman Prachanda.
Nepal asked Khanal to immediately convene a party central committee abruptly cancelled last week by Khanal through a internal party circular to avoid critics in the committee while discussing party and differences.
Khanal held similar discussions with Oli one week to improve personal relations as well.

KILLING OF OSAMA BIL LADEN MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT

Kathmandu, 3 May; Nepal, in an immediate reaction though a foreign ministry statement Monday, said the hunt down by US operatives and killing of Osama bin Laden, in Pakistan was a ‘major achievement in the fight against global terrorism’.
‘The announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden is an operation conducted by the US forces in Abbotabad, Pakistan, after a long hunt is a major achievement in the fight against global terrorism
“It has been Nepal’s consistent policy to condemn terrorism in all forms and manifestations anywhere in the world.
“The government of Nepal reaffirms its strong resolve to work together with the international community in the fight against terrorism and promote welfare and wellbeing of mankind as a whole,” a foreign ministry statement said.
US Ambassador Scott H, DeLisi briefed Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari on the operation Monday; Nepal is without a foreign minister awaiting government expansion.
Kathmandu-based SAARC headquarters Monday issued circular to eight member states to maintain high security after an unofficial emergency meeting following the death of Osama bin Laden in what has been described as a firefight.

PREM RAJ DEBKOTA BEIG CHARGED UNDER PUBLICOFFICE ACT FOR SLAPPING LAWMAKER

Kathmandu, 3 May: Prem Raj Debkota, a coffee shop owner from Teenkune in the capital, is being under the public office offence act for slapping Maoist lawmaker Jhakku Prasad Subedi Monday.
Debkota said he was angered with the delay in completing the peace process and promulgating a constitution.
