MAOIST LAWMAKER SLAPPED IN CAPITAL
Kathmandu, 2 May: Maoist lawmaker Bhakku Prasad Subedi was slapped by a Kathmandu resident Monday and he’s been apprehended.
First reports said the assailant was angry with delay in promulgating a constitution that has to be promulgated by28 May.
Subedi defeated Madhav Kumar Nepal in elections for constituent assembly/ parliament in 2008 from a constituency in the capital.
Nepal was also defeated from his traditional home constituency in Rautahat three years ago.
But he was nominated member of the legislature/assembly after a UML legislator vacated a seat for him following the defeat.
Nepal, who was then chairman of a constitution drafting committee now headed by Nilambar Acharya, then went on to become prime minister with support of Maoists who later turned against Nepal.
Nepal was also slapped by a UML activist in east terai last year in public; the unhappy person disapproved the prime minister’s handling of national politics.
