PUBLIC MEETINGS, DEMONSTRATIONS BANNED IN BIRATNAGAR

Kathmandu, 16 June: Public meetings and demonstrations were banned in Biratnagar Thursday following enforcement of prohibitory order by the local administration for 10 hours from eight in the morning.
In a show of muscle power, Youth Force, the youth wing of UML leading the government, is holding a rally in the town to defend its district unit leaders charged for the murderous assault on journalist Khilnath Dhakal who survived with serious injuries.
Counter rallies are being held by 13 youth organizations.
Local administration said prohibitory order was announced to prevent clashes.
Ruling party has been accused forprotecting its youth leaders,
Central Chairman of Youth Force Mahesh Basnet has gone to Biratnagar from the capital to lead the rally,

BHUTANESE REFUGEE SHOT DEAD

Kathmandu, 16 June: A Bhutanese refugee of Beldangi camp in Jhapa died overnight as he was being rushed to hospital for treatment of bullet injuries
Four bullets were pumped into Ram Bahadur Gurung,21,, who was charged earlier under an arms act.
Police have launched a search for assailants.

RAILWAY DEPT.BEING FORMED

Kathmandu, 16 June> A railway department is being formed for the first time.
The cabinet took a formal decision Wednesday.
Plans are afoot to build a railway network in the terai linking the east and west.

SURYA NEPAL GARMENT FACTORY SHUTS DOWN INDEFINITELY ITS PLANT IN MORANG

Kathmandu, 16 June; Surya Nepal Private Ltd (SNPL) has closed down its factory at Tankisinwari, Morang, indefinitely.
The move came following labour problems.
Police Wednesday forcibly freed more than 20 officials gheraoed byworkers.

EASTERN CHAPTER OF NEPAL-INDIA CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY

Kathmandu, 16 June; Eastern Chapter of Nepal, India Chamber of Industry was launched by Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood in Biratnagar Wednesday.

INDIAN TROUBLESHOOTER MINISTER PRANAB MUKHERJEE NOT COMING SATURDAY

Kathmandu, 16 June: Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is not coming to Kathmadu on Saturday as reported in some sections of the media, Republica reports
Foreign Secretary Madan Kuma Bhattarai said there is no truth in the news reports.
‘It is baseless,” Bhattarai said.
“Sources close to the prime, however, said Minister Mukherjee is visiting Kathmandu, but not this early
‘He is scheduled to visit Kathmandu at the invitation of Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari. But his visit is yet to be worked out,” said the source.
